Färgchock - Color shock
Jag är så glad över det faktum att jag bor i en stad som har en av de bästa tygbutikerna som finns. Och eftersom butiken är en liten kedja som ursprungligen grundades min stad så finns inte bara en utan två butiker av den här! Vilken lycka! Det finns inte så många tygaffärer kvar i min stad. Det är inte lönsamt att sälja klädtyger längre, sa en dam till mig en gång för 5 årsedan när hon lade ner sin butik. Sorgligt sa jag. Tyger är ett taktilt material och något man vill känna på innan man köper, så att man vet hur det känns. Det känns extra viktigt för en sån som jag som låter tyget "prata till mig" innan jag skapar det tyget förhoppningsvis berättat för mig. =) Sällan är processen den motsatta. Precis som tyget i klänningen jag sydde förra helgen. Tyget köpte jag just som stuv och kommer just från butiken jag pratar om Ohlssons tyger. Tygstuvar är ju det bästa som finns när man är lagd som jag. Tyget berättade hur modellen skulle se ut och jag blev rätt nöjd med resultatet - tror att få andra modeller har gjort tyget rättvisa. Eller vad tycker du?
I'm so proud over the fact that I live in a city where one of the best fabric shops in Sweden is located. And because it’s a small chain that originally was founded in my city, there is not only one but two of it in my town! Bliss! There is not many fabric shops left in my town anymore. "There is no profit in selling fashion fabrics" a shop owner said to me once before she went out of business. Sad I think. Fabrics are tactile materials needing to be felt before purchasing, so that you know how it feels. That is vital for a person like me, who let the fabrics “speak” before I create something. Hopefully what the fabric told me to create. =) The creative process is rarely the opposite for me (drawing and then looking for fabrics).
The same thing happened with the fabric I found last weekend. The piece is from the scrap cloth section at the store I am talking about, the Ohlssons tyger. Scraps are the funniest to buy I think, if you are inclined to let fabrics talk to you, that is. =) This fabric said straight out what model would be suitable for it, and I’m pretty happy with the result – don’t think many other styles would had made that fabric justice. Or what do you think?
